Advises companies on circular and low-carbon transformations and strategies

Per-Anders is a partner in our Stockholm office as well as the founder and leader of Material Economics, a sustainability consultancy focused on applying the principles of the circular economy to resource use in production, supply chains, and business models, which is now part of McKinsey.

Per-Anders works with senior leaders from governments, advanced industries, basic-materials companies, consumer-product businesses, and other institutions on a range of sustainability and circularity topics. This includes designing sustainable operational processes, developing sourcing strategies for recycled materials, rethinking product portfolios, and implementing sustainability transformations.

Earlier in his career, Per-Anders led McKinsey’s work on climate change as one of the founders of our Sustainability Practice, where he served as a global leader on carbon economics and the circular economy. He also codeveloped McKinsey’s greenhouse gas-abatement cost curve, a widely adopted tool for analyzing the economic, business, and social implications of mitigating climate change.

Outside his client work, Per-Anders is a regular speaker at sustainability conferences and events as well as a prolific writer, having published numerous articles and reports on climate change and sustainability topics, as well as the book, A Good Disruption: Redefining Growth in the Twenty-First Century.

Per-Anders holds a master’s in engineering physics from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, and a bachelor’s in international business from Gothenburg University.
