Harald is a Partner in McKinsey’s Berlin office. With 23 years of professional experience – including 17 years at McKinsey and a decade of economic development work across Africa – he brings a global perspective to complex challenges in the aerospace & defense as well as healthcare industries. He has supported clients on more than 100 engagements worldwide, including large-scale corporate strategy efforts or multi-year transformation programs in complex operational environments.
Some of Harald’s recent work includes the following:
- identifying market entry approaches for industrial players in the European and global defense sectors
- supporting investment transactions in manufacturing in East and West Africa, including business plans, scale up approaches and operational improvements
- working with leading global and EMEA infrastructure-investment entities as well as development-finance institutions on their business strategies and growth plans
- strengthening an East African country’s health system with a focus on drug registration, supply chains, health insurance, and the Covid-19 task force
- developing a project management and leadership training program for one of Germany’s largest healthcare payors
- reviewing organizational and financial capabilities of one of Europe’s largest municipal hospital associations, including procurement and project implementation controlling
Harald joined McKinsey in Vienna in 2009, spent ten years in Nairobi from 2016, and transferred to Berlin in early 2026. Prior to McKinsey, Harald held different roles in finance and controlling in the European aerospace & defense sector. He is a German native speaker and fluent in English as well as French.
